Construction company Saint-Gobain are celebrating 350 years of providing innovative solutions in 64 countries across the globe. Their celebrations have a specific focus on education and aim to use the company’s expertise to assist disadvantaged communities. Two key projects include the Adopt-a-School Foundation initiative to improve educational habitats in three schools in KwaZulu Natal, Gauteng and Western Cape, and the Architecture for Social Gain Awards to recognize and reward local talent in the design of educational spaces. The competition has been conceptualized by Saint-Gobain in association with the South African Institute of Architects, to recognise and reward talent in the design of spaces that allow learning and development. Architects will submit proposals for adopted schools around the country. The winner will received R450 000 to build their proposal in partnership with Adopt-a-School Foundation. Read more here.
